Barbecue

June 27, 2008

Mmmmm … I don’t tend to cook beef for myself … I haven’t really ever figured out how to do it well, but I got invited to a barbecue tonight and oh, was it ever good.  Good meat with chipotle / mango sauce, vegetable pasta salad, loads of fresh fruit – and my soon-to-be-famous apple cake.

I made it last time for the MAR reception and I tweaked the recipe to include and disclude some things, and it was good!  I love hearing from people that they had to take a second piece because they enjoyed it so much.  And this time, I kept some for my breakfast.

Again and again I receive the welcoming attitude of so many here.  I was invited to join a long-term circle of friends, and not for a moment did I feel any exclusion – I was invited to join in an early morning hike tomorrow (I decline almost all early morning invitations just on principle) and an evening street dance in front of the Silver Dollar Saloon.

Again and again I feel so much pleasure just sitting in a circle of people sharing conversation and laughter, dogs playing, good food, and the beauty of Butte surrounding me.
